Quick Start Guide
Install PortFi Charger based on the manufacturer's instructions in the package.
Make sure it is plugged into a NEMA-compliant electrical outlet (e.g. 14-50) with proper grounding.
The circuit breaker must be sized properly and dedicated to the charger (e.g. 50A breaker for 40A charger, or 40A breaker for 32A charger).
Once installed and plugged in, your PortFi charger will be operational! If you don't need any smart charging functions, this is it, ENJOY!
If you purchased a Premium 4G version of PortFi Smart Charger, please disregard all Wifi configuration steps below and head directly to the app via the link/QR code at the bottom of this page. You'll need to enter the charger's serial number (on the package and on the side of charger) and your order number (last 4 digits only).
Configure Wifi for Smart Charging:
Each PortFi Smart Charger is pre-configured with:
Wifi SSID (name): portfi
Wifi password: charging
Please note that this is NOT a Wifi signal. Instead, it's a pre-configured Wifi setting at the charger for an initial connection and you may change them once the charger is online.
Let's now get your PortFi charger connected to the internet!
Option 1: if you can set up a secondary network (2.4 GHz only) in your existing Wifi router, you may do so using the SSID and password above. You may also continue to use this secondary network with the charger if the connection is stable and strong.
Option 2: use your mobile device to set up a temporary Wifi hotspot (2.4 GHz only) to enable the initial internet connection. The SSID and password must match those above. Keep the phone as close as possible to the charger.
For iPhone, go to "Settings > General > About > Name" to set up the temporary Wifi SSID (name) "portfi"; and go to "Settings > Personal Hotspot > Wi-Fi Password" to set up the password "charging"; then click "Allow Others to Join" to enable the Wifi hotspot.
For Android, go to "Settings > Connections > Mobile Hotspot & Tethering", and tap on "Wi-Fi hotspot". Then you'll see options to change the Wifi SSID (hotspot name) to "portfi" and password to "charging".
Option 3: if you have a Wifi extender, follow manufacturer's instructions to set up an extended Wifi network (2.4 GHz only) with the Wifi SSID and password above. Please position the extender to ensure a stable connection for the charger.
If haven't already, you may shop for Wifi extenders tested and recommended by PortFi here.
Finally, let's keep that connection open and head to the web app! You'll have the best experience if you open the app on a mobile device and follow in-app instruction to save it on the Homepage to access it like a regular app.
If you have already received your dedicated web link to the app, please use that to continue.
If first time using the app, please use the link or QR code below. You'll then need to enter the charger's serial number (on the package and on the side of charger) and your order number (last 4 digits only).
